Air Conditioning Hawthorne
Acer Services often receive air conditioning requests from Hawthorne residents and are always happy to oblige.
Here are some interesting facts about Hawthorne.
It is a riverside suburb located just 3 km east of the Brisbane CBD, adjacent to Bulimba, Balmoral, Morningside and across the river from New Farm and Newstead.
At the latest census, it had a population of around 5,000.
Hawthorne was named after the hawthorne bushes that were planted by the original settler, William Baynes, in the 1850s and 1860s.
At that time it was a farming district, but with the advent of ferry and tram services, the land was quickly subdivided and is now one of Brisbane’s ‘wealthier’ suburbs.
It is also one of Brisbane’s younger suburbs, with a median population aged 33 – 4 years younger than the Australian average.
There are several parks and schools in the suburb including Lourdes Hill College, a prestigious 100-year old girls school.
Hawthorne is also home to the heritage-listed Hawthorne Ferry Terminal and the classic Hawthorne Cinema Complex with a large curved screen.
