Air Conditioning System: Worth repairing?

Acer Services will tell you whether it’s viable to repair an air conditioning system

To repair or not to repair, now THAT is the question.

The answer? Well, that’s up to you.

It really depends on the age of the air-conditioning system, how efficiently it is currently running and of course the nature and extent of the repairs.

If you’re looking at purchasing a new unit, download our free Buyer’s Guide today!

If the unit is “getting on in years” (an air conditioning system lasts on average 10-15 years – less in coastal areas), or not operating quite as effectively/ economically /quietly as it was, and repairs are going to be around half the cost of a brand new air conditioning system, we recommend you think seriously about replacing it.

On the other hand, if it just needs a good service and/or requires a few parts – if they are still available – then by all means you should talk to Acer Services about carrying out some air conditioning repairs.

It’s your call, however you can rely on our professional advice – we’re after happy, long-term customers, not a quick sale.

How Acer Services dispose of an old air conditioning system.

Should your old air conditioner need to be replaced, you can count on Acer Services to take care of everything.

This is important as the refrigerant gas in many split system air-conditioners is fluorocarbon, a known greenhouse pollutant.

Acer Services work strictly in accordance with the Australian Government’s Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Regulations to ensure that this very harmful gas is not released into the atmosphere.

It’s a sad fact that just 1kg of fluorocarbon emissions has the same affect on the Ozone as running your car continuously for approximately six months.

With this in mind, Acer adhere to a strict disassemble, recovery and environmentally sound disposal process.

As required by law, we recover, store and forward the gas on to an authorised refrigerant recovery business, who will in turn pass it on to a national collection point where it is concerted to salty water (using a patented Australian-designed process).

As a member of the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC), we then carry out our step-by-step recycling process, removing all parts and disposing on them in the most environmentally responsible manner.

Not only do we do this at absolutely no cost to the consumer, but we actually spend money in the process, stripping the units down into all categories of recyclable metal.

We feel it is our duty as a good corporate citizen to do so.

For ultimate peace of mind, knowing that we will repair your old air conditioning system if it is viable, or replace it using best practice disposal and dispersal methods, simply contact the team at Acer Services today.
